As we know the leaf of the coriander plant is refered to as cilantro. I love (like) its flavor and aroma. Definitive highligts of citrus. I know this? I think this? I thought this?

Turns out that some poeple think it tastes like soap !?! WOW!

One "chemical sense center" thinks its taste has a genetic basis in the individule since identical twins have a common reaction.

Whats your taster (brain) tell you?

Mine says citrus.

Score: Citrus 2 ; Soap 0 ........ As of Sep 12, 2010

Here is a link to an article on the subject:

Cilantro controversy

Perception of the odor is where the flavor determination come in.
For myself I love it, until it starts to flower and the leaves change shape, then I think it is yucky!
Wonder if they considered this in the testing?

So, how is my vote counted?

Your vote is counted "by hand" so to speak, by me, by reading the replies.

Guess I've never tasted it old and yucky.

You may not realize it if you buy a clump in the grocery store. Sometimes they mix the 'younger' leaves taken from lower on the plant with some of the upper leaves closer to where the flowering/seeding is taking place. Other times it is just the leaves from the younger plant. Neither is tougher than the other and the difference in leaf structure is not highly dramatic, especially if you havent seen them both 'in situ' on a mature plant! alien
